It's out with the old and in with the new...

Hola chickens :)

About a month ago, I was a walking advert for The Collection 2000 16-hour wear foundation and concealer and the shine away pressed powder. I was telling people that they were good quality and great value, and should go out straight away to buy them.

So it turns out I may have been wrong..

I suffer from really bad combination skin, which is really oily making it acne prone, but at the same dry and tight feeling. And I'm also super-duper sensitive to just about everything and prone to reacting to most products. And it really does suck. I'm always so envious of my friends who can just leave the house with no face make up on and feel confident. When I have to put on concealer to cover blemishes, foundation to even out my skin tone and then powder so that I'm not attracting magpies all day because I'm so shiny.
So when I found the foundation, concealer and powder combo from Collection 2000 (a brand I normally trust because it's mascaras and eyeshadows are actually really good) for a cheap price, I thought it was a win-win situation, the foundation even claims to be oil-free which is a bonus. But as I've been using the trio, my skin has been getting progressively worse and worse, so it's time for..
..out with the old and in with the new.. :)

^^there's the old...

♥ ♥ ♥

and here's the new!

Miss Sporty is a brand that I rarely give a second thought, I have a crazy purple lipstick from there and that's it. But when I was in Superdrug this afternoon I spotted the golden words '4 Anti-spot actions', 'Anti-Bacterial' and 'Dermatologically tested for young skin' - I have to say I was chuffed with my find :).
So my lovely mummy, who could see I was very sad about my bad skin, offered to buy me the lovely new trio so that I could try them out and see if my skin was going to improve.
So that's what I shall do.

All three products claim to:
♥ Absorb excess oil from the skin
♥ Clarify skin and minimize spot breakout and blemishes
♥ Moisture skin thanks to emollient agents
♥ and Help control shine

If the products really do all those lovely things then pretty soon I will be a happy chappy :)

So far I have just tried out the foundation on my hand and it feels really lights and blends really nicely, and it also has a light clean scent which is fresh and pretty :).

These products were very cheap, the foundation and powder being £2.99 and the concealer stick only £1.99. But I feel like I trust what they are saying on the packet and if they do what it says on the tin, then money really is no object.

I will be trying my new purchases out over the course of the next few weeks and will let you know how it goes :).

Has anyone else had problemos with the collection 2000 products?
Or has good or bad things to say about the Miss Sporty ones too?

Au revoir for now.
lotsa love

August faves

Hello my sweety pies!
I have seen lots of these monthly favourite things before and I really enjoy reading and watching them so I thought I would do one myself. These are all products that I loved using this month and will most probably re-purchase soon!
This will be my last post for about a week because tomorrow I am going to Mallorca - I'm so very very excited, ahh! But I will do a holiday post when I get back to show some of the makeup and fashion looks I created when I was there and just general pictures of the lovely summery sun :)
I hope you enjoy reading this and don't forget to comment - I love reading what you have to say and I will definitely reply if you have any questions!

17 lasting finish nail polish in 'peacock'
I got this one for my birthday from a lurvely friend and I instantly fell in love with the colour. It's a gorgeous turquoise-y blue and has really pretty green shimmers in it.
The formulation is a good constistency and it builds well too :)
You can buy this for £2.99 at Boots.
(Btw sorry for the shoddy condition of my nails in the picture, trust me - I'm very ashamed :(. )

Primark makeup brushes, Purple Kabuki brush & Blusher Brush. Both were £1.50 each.
First of all, these brushes are so soft it's actually unreal.
The Kabuki one has very good grab and is great for powder foundation and pressed powder, it also gives a lovely even, matte finish - something that I am always striving for :)
The Blusher brush is great as well, it's very nice feeling on the skin and blends really well for such a cheap brand. I am impressed by both of these and I use them everyday!

Love ETC... perfume by The Body Shop.
I love this! You might have seen this on my room tour, the ring on the lid was a present and I put in on because I thought it looked pretty cool :D
The perfume smells so pretty and feminine and has lovely floral notes. It makes me feel really fresh and lasts a lot better than many other perfumes I've tried.
It's also really cheap at just £12 compared to more expensive brands. I got it for £7 at a discount stall - woop woop :D
I recommend this, a lot.

ELF mineral foundation with SPF 15 in light, available from www.eyeslipsface.com
I have tried too many foundations to count and they've all been wrong for me. I have very sensitive and oily skin causing me to get lots of blemishes so I do like coverage but at the same time I don't want to clog my pores.
This is the first powder foundation I have tried because I always thought the coverage would be too light but I was surprised to see that it gave a good, medium coverage and is build-able.
The powder feels light on my skin and gives it a natural, rather then cakey looking, matte finish. This is a winner for me. And at only £3.50 it would be ridiculous for me to complain ;)

Of course I had to include a lipstick in this post :) But when I found myself browsing my collection for my fave of the month I couldn't just choose one! So here are three :)
Barry M touch of magic - £4.25
I still can't really get over this lippie - it reacts with the natural Ph balance in your lips and turns them pink and for mine they go almost red it's so bright :) I love this with a white based eye because it looks really dramatic. A great product.
2true glossywear lipstick in shade 7 - £1.99 (i think!)
I wasn't expecting too much from this lipstick because it was so cheap but I actually really like it! I have worn it lots and I like it a bit more each time I do wear it. It's a coral-y pink colour and has a really pretty sheen, it's also quite moisturising. If you're on a budget and want a pretty summery lip then this is for you :)
ELF mineral lipstick in 'runaway pink' - £3.50
This was a gift from my lovely friend hebeflora and it's probably my favourite of the three :) It's such a pretty neutral pink and the formulation is lovely, it's nice and creamy and lasts well. It's also very wearable and complements a pink blush perfectly. A must buy!

I hope you enjoyed this post and please follow if you haven't already -- it means a lot to get followers! :D
I will get back to you all after my holiday!
Have a lovely week and I hope the weather brightens up for you all.

lots of blog lurve and hugs and makeup joy, hehe :)

haul: ELF

As promised here is my haul from the website eyeslipsface.com. I ordered my stuff yesterday and was expecting the things to come much later this week, but they arrived the next day! Which has made me love ELF even more :)

Hope you enjoy this post!

here they are! :)

Mineral foundation in 'light (for light skin and golden undertones)' - £3.50
I've never used or had a powder foundation before, usually sticking to liquid ones, dream matte mousse or no foundation at all! But I really like the lightness and sheer coverage of this foundation :) It's a good colour for my skin tone and also claims to work with your natural skin pH balance and match your skin - which is pretty funky :) The only thing I would say is I find it a but tricky to shake out of the pot, so not great packaging. But overall a nice (cheap) product ;)

Complexion perfection - £3.50
This product is amazing! Probably my favourite of the lot :)
The texture is weightless and makes your skin look so light and flawless and gives a nice healthy and beautiful glow :) The balance of minerals claim to matte skin, neutralise redness and brighten - and this product definitely does this :D I have tried lots of pressed powders before and this is the best! I would recommend a lot (especially at that price!). A must buy.

Studio blush in 'tickled pink' - £3.50
I really like this blush. I have heard a lot of good things about the ELF blushes and I wasn't disappointed :) The colour is gorgeous and has a lovely light shimmer and it is really pigmented and blends really evenly on the skin :) the only thing I would say is it's tiny! haha

E.L.F tools, eye widener -£1.50
This products claims to create a wider and bigger looking eye when applied to the waterline. Considering this product is very cheap I wasn't expecting that much and I wasn't bowled over with it's quality - the white colour is quite faint on the waterline however it looks better around the inside of the eye and as a highlighter on the brow bone :) It does come with a built in sharpener though! Every cloud has a silver lining :)

Total face brush - £1.50
I really wanted the powder brush from the studio line but it was 'coming soon' so I settled for the regular brush. It's not the softest brush I've ever used but it does give even coverage and works well with the foundation :) and you can't really go wrong with £1.50!

hope you enjoyed this post ;D

lotsa love xoxo
