baby, it's cold outside

In the spirit of Christmas, I thought I'd post some yummy festive pictures :)

I won't take credit for this little beauty, my mother (aka domestic goddess) baked this treat and adorned it in dainty little pale blue snowflakes. Simply gorgeous.

Have a really happy christmas guys :')

questions and answers

This tag has been going around the blogs for awhile now and I fancied a go at answering the questions :)
I haven't been personally tagged to do this but I figured that didn't really matter so here we go :)

1. What is your dream job?
Well, there are a mixture of things that I would love to do - however I am still searching for a job that includes all of them in one. I love writing more than anything in the world - it's, at a risk of sounding cheesy, my passion :) and I have infact written a novel which i'm really proud of (mostly because of it's length). However I also love writing and reading articles and am particularly interested in media, broadcasting, beauty, fashion, celebrity journalism etc and I think it would be more likely that I could get a career in this as I have been told that it's quite a struggle to get a book published because so many people are trying.
I also secretly would love to be a television presenter, mostly because I like the idea of the lifestyle I would live being one and I am so interested in people and I love socialising and that's a big part of that job.
And I have to say I would never rule out acting - not theatre phantom of the opera style :P but just something on television that would be fun and really rewarding.
As you can see, I'm pretty undecided. Any tips would be gladly accepted :)

2. What is your favourite fragrance for winter?
I am actually between perfumes at the moment but something musky and slightly sweeter. I leave lights florals for when it's hot.

3. How do you take tea or coffee?
Well, I take my tea two ways depending on my mood: either really weak (like teabag dipped in for about a minute) and no milk or sugar and piping hot. Or strong and milky and sugary so i can pretend to be a builder.
I only drink coffee when I'm out and I have enough money to pop into starbucks - and then it's a 'skinny vanilla latte with sugar free syrup and a rocky road' mmmm :).

4. What is your most important beauty secret?
To take your makeup off properly every night. I have myself only just realised the importance of this - i suffer from breakouts quite often and since I've taken my makeup off thoroughly, cleansed, toned and used a cream wash then used my panoxyl gel (which is medicated) every night it's made a world of a difference. Do it!

5. If you had an all expenses paid vacation anywhere, where would you go?
That's easy. I would go to New York, stay in the Ritz, travel everywhere in a limousine, drink starbucks whilst browsing the shelves in Chanel and dine in michelin star restaurants with my best friend. Gorge :).

6. If a genie popped into your lap right now and offered you three wishes, what would they be?
Hmm... 1. To have just enough money to never need to worry, for me and my family. 2. For my book to be published and to become a best seller. 3. To meet someone perfect for me and fall in love :)

7. If you could only have breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert foods for the rest of your life, which one would you pick?
Well, I don't have that much of a sweet tooth so it wouldn't be dessert. And breakfast is the bane of my life so it would have to be lunch or dinner. Lunch, I think. Because that's when I get the most hungry and I love savoury foods. Eating is one of the best things in the whole world :).

8. If you had the chance to pick a famous person for your other half to meet, who would you choose for them?
I don't have a other half! Pass :).

9. What is your biggest makeup pet peeve?
Hm, I'm kinda obsessed with eyebrows looking perfect. I think messy ones look baaad and if they're neat then your whole face looks instantly lifted and beautiful :)

10. If you could only wear one piece of jewellery for the rest of your life what would it be?
A simple necklace. I just got this one from Urban Outfitters with a 'D' of it and it's absolutely beautiful - haven't taken it off since I got it.

11. What one talent do you wish you had?
I wish I could sit down at a piano and just play. I learnt the piano for years and got to grade three but I hated the monotonous learning of exam pieces. I also wish I could really, really sing - I would love a voice like Lea Michele's - I think she's absolutely incredible and her voice really moves me :).

12. The product you will continue to purchase?
This is a tricky because I don't really repurchase that often. I can't think of anything at all!

13. If you could look into the future would you? What would you want to know?
I wouldn't want to. I believe everything happens for a reason and I want everything to be a surprise :).

14. Who is your biggest celebrity crush? (include pictures)
It changes aaall the time! But at the moment I'm just a tad obsessed with the lovely One Direction boys who were on X Factor this year and came third. My favourite is Zayn ;).

15. What made you start a blog?
Well, my friend hebe had one and I thought it might be fun to get one too and it all went from there :).

I tag everyone to do this :)

Hope you enjoyed lovies :)
much love, Daisy x

Just some prettiful pictures that I found on the lovely site that is weheartit to distract me even further from the revision that I should be doing for my mocks which start tomorrow.

It's out with the old and in with the new...

Hola chickens :)

About a month ago, I was a walking advert for The Collection 2000 16-hour wear foundation and concealer and the shine away pressed powder. I was telling people that they were good quality and great value, and should go out straight away to buy them.

So it turns out I may have been wrong..

I suffer from really bad combination skin, which is really oily making it acne prone, but at the same dry and tight feeling. And I'm also super-duper sensitive to just about everything and prone to reacting to most products. And it really does suck. I'm always so envious of my friends who can just leave the house with no face make up on and feel confident. When I have to put on concealer to cover blemishes, foundation to even out my skin tone and then powder so that I'm not attracting magpies all day because I'm so shiny.
So when I found the foundation, concealer and powder combo from Collection 2000 (a brand I normally trust because it's mascaras and eyeshadows are actually really good) for a cheap price, I thought it was a win-win situation, the foundation even claims to be oil-free which is a bonus. But as I've been using the trio, my skin has been getting progressively worse and worse, so it's time for..
..out with the old and in with the new.. :)

^^there's the old...

♥ ♥ ♥

and here's the new!

Miss Sporty is a brand that I rarely give a second thought, I have a crazy purple lipstick from there and that's it. But when I was in Superdrug this afternoon I spotted the golden words '4 Anti-spot actions', 'Anti-Bacterial' and 'Dermatologically tested for young skin' - I have to say I was chuffed with my find :).
So my lovely mummy, who could see I was very sad about my bad skin, offered to buy me the lovely new trio so that I could try them out and see if my skin was going to improve.
So that's what I shall do.

All three products claim to:
♥ Absorb excess oil from the skin
♥ Clarify skin and minimize spot breakout and blemishes
♥ Moisture skin thanks to emollient agents
♥ and Help control shine

If the products really do all those lovely things then pretty soon I will be a happy chappy :)

So far I have just tried out the foundation on my hand and it feels really lights and blends really nicely, and it also has a light clean scent which is fresh and pretty :).

These products were very cheap, the foundation and powder being £2.99 and the concealer stick only £1.99. But I feel like I trust what they are saying on the packet and if they do what it says on the tin, then money really is no object.

I will be trying my new purchases out over the course of the next few weeks and will let you know how it goes :).

Has anyone else had problemos with the collection 2000 products?
Or has good or bad things to say about the Miss Sporty ones too?

Au revoir for now.
lotsa love

a thoroughly english day out..

Bonjour mes amis :)

Yesterday I enjoyed a lovely winters day shopping and coffee shop-ing with my beautiful friend Hebe in Bath.
The air was frosty so I wrapped up warm, channelling my inner animal and donning my leopard print scarf. And I also wore my lovely new Urban Outfitter boots which I talked about a couple of posts ago and they were just a pleasure to spend the day in: warm, comfy and oh-so stylish.

After perusing the clothing selection in a few shops and drooling over the gorgeous choice of high heels and aviator jackets for a couple of hours we hopped, skipped and jumped to a cute little café where, being the fatty that I am, I enjoyed a bowl of pommes frites :).

I am absolutely loving taking photographs at the moment, catching beautiful candid moments and a special point in time in a split second with just one click of a shutter :) ...

[the two photos of me and my chips were taken by hebe]

mmm, those chips were so delicious :)

How cool is that vintage bike! I just need one of those so that I can pretend I drive it :)

On a trip to Topshop I found a gorgeous, chunky floral cardigan in the sale, reduced from 45 pounds to 20 :). I love how warm and cuddly it feels and the big pink flowers on it are just so pretty.
So unable to resist, I put my new purchase on and gallivanted around the streets just waiting for the compliments ...  hehe, just kidding ;).

Cue posy pictures ;)

After a hard day of shopping and posing for photos the best thing to come home to is a slice of vanilla cheesecake and a cup of jasmine tea :).
So that's what we did.

And yes, I do rather enjoy leafing through the pages of Nigella's cookery books :) hehe.

and finally, a naughty slice of cake before bed, because, you're only young once ;)

lotsa love
